Family Eye Examination

Have you ever thought to yourself, “Nothing looks blurry, I don’t need to get my eyes checked!”. One of the most common misconceptions about eye exams is that if you are not experiencing difficulty in your vision, an eye exam is not necessary. However, an eye exam does much more than just check your vision quality. Your eye examination is a completely comprehensive evaluation of your eye health. With our doctor expertise combined with sophisticated technology, your entire eye is assessed - from front to back!

Eye exams are key to maintaining good vision, eye health and overall health. Your eyes are the only organs that can be viewed from outside your body which is why they provide exclusive insight into your well-being. An eye exam can detect high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and various auto-immune disorders. We may detect these issues before you show any other symptoms!

For a child, eye exams are even more important. Vision is critical for learning. Poor vision can significantly impact learning and personality in the classroom. Your child may not even realize they are seeing poorly.

Eye exams are a gateway into your overall health and well-being for adults and children alike. A comprehensive eye exam can greatly improve your quality of life and provide insight into potential health issues. At Baldwin Park Eye Care, we care greatly about your vision and overall health. We want to help you see clearly and live your best.

Contact Lens Evaluation

Did you know the first contact lens was made entirely out of glass? It was heavy and made blinking impossible. Thankfully, technology has brought us to a place where soft contact lenses are now made of silicone hydrogel – allowing for all-day comfort and oxygen permeability (our eyes need oxygen too!).

Today, you will find a large variety of contact lenses in the market. In your Contact Lens Evaluation, we will work with you to select the perfect contact lens for your eyes that will fit your lifestyle. Lenses vary in fit, oxygen permeability, curvature, and much more. From soft disposable lenses to rigid gas permeable lenses, we have a wide variety of lenses available for you.

If you have never worn contacts before, you will have an opportunity to practice in our office with the help of an expert. Once the lenses are on your eyes, we will use special equipment to view the lens to evaluate the fit on your cornea. You will also receive free trial lenses to take home to try out in your day-to-day life.

Improper lenses can cause extreme discomfort and potentially damage your eyes. Whether you are an expert contact lens wearer or a first-time user, don’t take a chance on your eyes. Consult with an Optometrist to make sure you are in the perfect lens for your lifestyle.

Diabetic Eye Examination

Eye exams can detect diabetes very early on. Diabetes affects the blood vessels, and the back of your eye is the only place where blood vessels can be clearly seen non-invasively. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows 30.3 million people have diabetes in the U.S., however, 7.2 million people go undiagnosed. Are you one of those people? We can help!

Diabetes can damage the small blood vessels in the back of your retina. This can be the first symptom to diagnose diabetes in many people. Diabetes can lead to an array of eye problems including blurry vision, glaucoma, cataracts and diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy occurs due to weakened blood vessels, and is the most common cause of vision loss for people with diabetes. The earlier a problem is detected, the better the chances that symptoms can be reversed under proper care.

If you are a diabetic patient, it is important to see your Optometrist regularly. Your Optometrist will monitor any changes in the blood vessels of your retina in order to preserve your eye health and protect your vision.
